Western Queensland Alliance of Councils

Western Queensland’s extensive road network plays a vital role in regional connectivity and economic development. However, the condition and coverage of critical transport corridors remain a challenge. WQAC identified the need for a more coordinated and compelling approach to advocate for long-term investment in road infrastructure — investment that supports rural jobs, enables equitable access to essential services, builds regional resilience, and underpins the growth of renewable industries.

Key Achievements

The final narrative was integrated with the Western Queensland Priority Road Network mapping and has since become a central advocacy tool for WQAC. It can now be used as a tool in election campaigns, deputations, regional forums and media engagements to strengthen the alliance’s case for targeted, long-term investment in the region’s roads. The work provided a powerful voice for the councils of Western Queensland, backed by data and a unified strategic message.

This project demonstrates how strong regional collaboration, evidence-based planning and effective storytelling can shift the conversation around infrastructure investment. With a clear narrative and shared vision, WQAC is better positioned to advocate for the road funding that will help unlock Western Queensland’s future growth.
